Styled Shoots

Do you get intimidated when you go to the flower market? I do. I get overwhelmed and pretty much walk around dazed and afraid. Keep in mind that my flower market is 10 times out of 10 the grocery store and after we check off the last thing on our list there isn't a bag of Cheeto Puffs big enough to keep my buttercuppies from losing it at the sight of Mommy comparing five different trios of $10 white hydrangea. That being said I love fresh flowers and really think that they elevate the level of styled shoots in a way that nothing else can. Well, aside of dripping, glistening dark chocolate. That's kind of a scene-stealer.

I have a few fun styled shoots coming up and thought it would be fun to track my progress with utilizing and arranging different props. When it comes to flowers, I almost always go for white. My usual go-to is two dozen white roses arranged tightly in a shallow glass cylinder vase. (Thanks, Nate Berkus! I really miss your show, by the way...) Above all else, I want my desserts to really stand out and since I'm just starting to dive into styled shoots I figured I wouldn't rock the boat too much.

I hope you'll stay tuned to see how this shoot turns out!

  1. Can't wait to see what you have coming up! I also have a love for fresh flowers yet they rarely make an appearance in my home. We have the same end of the grocery shopping experience!
