A Simple Wedding

I had the privilege of making this pretty little wedding cake for the sweetest bride. She was having a small, intimate wedding with only a few guests on a Wednesday evening. I think she definitely has the right idea and I hope this special cake added a little sweetness to their big day.

chocolate cake
dark chocolate ganache filling

A New Favorite

Since I can't quite get enough of that strawberry basil buttercream, I thought I'd showcase how it's going to be served in cupcake form. Every cupcake is topped with a single basil leaf and if that doesn't scream fresh, then I don't know what will!

I love how sweet they look and can already see them sitting pretty on a dessert table or cozy in a box ready to be gifted. Happy summertime baking, y'all!

Weekly Menu #2

Sorry for the picture overload, I just couldn't help myself! This week there are two 8" chocolate cakes with strawberry basil buttercream on the menu and they are the perfect way to add a little pretty (and tasty!) to your weekend. The strawberries are punchy and sweet and the basil is oh-so-refreshing and delightfully unexpected. The buttercream coupled with the rich chocolate cake makes for a match made in heaven!

If you are interested in ordering one please contact me, Kristina Guilbeau, at info@buttercuphouston.com.

Flavor:
8" three layer chocolate cake
strawberry basil buttercream

2 available to first come, first serve
$45

Orders must be placed by Wednesday July 23rd and picked up on Friday July 25th.

Weekly Menu #1

This week I launched the Buttercup weekly menu and I'm so happy to report that it was such a success! Every Sunday I plan to announce the menu and customers (that means you!) will have until Wednesday to place an order for pickup on Friday or Saturday morning. I kicked this first week off with a hefty ten dozen macarons to the first come first serve and thankfully they were all scooped up by Tuesday! I couldn't be more thankful and can't wait to post next week's menu.

I will announce the weekly menus on facebook, instagram, my website and here on the blog so if you find something you like please email me at info@buttercuphouston.com to place an order.

I hope you check in for updates and once again, thank you for continuing to support little old Buttercup!

Raspberry Rose Macarons

I tried my hand at making homemade rose water and couldn't wait to put it to use with this order of raspberry rose macarons. It's such a beautiful combination and I can't wait to experiment more with different types of flowers. I'm looking at you next, lilac...

Super Hero Cake

Loved this fun birthday cake that went out the door this morning! There is going to be one very happy birthday boy, I mean Super Hero, blowing out their candles today :)

Flavors:
top tier
vanilla bean cake
fresh raspberry filling

bottom tier
red velvet
cream cheese frosting

Lavender Cake

I jumped at the chance to make this sweet lavender cake and love how it turned out. I steep the lavender in milk and it is such a great way to infuse those bright floral notes without overpowering the cake. Love, love, love this one!

Flavors:
lavender vanilla bean cake
lavender white chocolate cake
lavender buttercream

Strawberry Ice Cream Pops

Mix fresh strawberry slices with Blue Bell's Homemade Vanilla and Strawberry Ice Cream and fill your popsicle molds. Voila! A summer snack that's a home run every time!

note: don't blend the ice cream in a blender as it incorporates too much air and the pops lose the creamy texture once frozen.

Say it with Cake

I can think of no better way to say, "Happy Birthday" than with a heaping slice of chocolate cake and a few to-go macarons to nibble on later. I don't know who Charlie is, but I sure did have fun writing out his name in chocolate :)

Blueberry Scones with Lemon Glaze

These scones are one of the most requested items in the kitchen and with blueberries so sweet right now I could hardly keep myself from adding them in by the handful (which I eventually ended up doing anyway). Because blueberries and lemon should always, ALWAYS go hand in hand I topped them with a sugary sweet lemon glaze the brightens everything x 1,000. Love, love, love these and can't wait to make them again this weekend. Maybe raspberry? Or strawberry? Or maybe even cherry with an apricot glaze? Oh, the possibilities...

Family Pictures: Kimberly Chau Photography

A few weeks ago we went gallivanting through Hermann Park with my buddy Kimberly Chau to snap some family pictures and I'm so excited to be sharing them today! She did such a great job capturing my wild bunch on a very hot and sunny Houston day. This is quite a photo-heavy post with not a single baked good in sight, hope you don't mind too much!
